Valentine’s Day 101: 4 Etiquette To Make Your Day

Every valentine’s day happens to carry two sorts of moods- the ones frantic about planning for a romantic evening & making it perfect and just right for their loved one and the ones who just couldn’t care less about the romance and it’s just another day for them. Regardless of how you feel about it, it’s important to remember that valentine’s day is just a way to celebrate the spirit of love which doesn’t mean that it can only be celebrated with a lover/ partner. So single or not, these 4 etiquette will make sure that you make the best of the love fest.

Send out flowers & gifts

In case you are in that phase where you feel kind of nauseated by the mention of flowers and bouquets, try sending it out to someone you are not close to anonymously. It can even be a stranger, a distant colleague, an ex-co-worker, or a friend whom you don’t talk to anymore. Apart from lighting up their day, we assure you that you will feel a huge sense of satisfaction and happiness. For people planning an evening for their better half, if you feel that valentine’s day flower arrangements are somewhat “cliched” and “outdated”- there’s a reason behind their excessive use. As per history, the Romans used to offer roses as a symbol of eternal love and beauty to their goddess Venus which went on to become a mainstream representation of love.

Plan a day with your friends

Call your friends and close relatives for a night in or grab dinner in a night out. Although Feb 14th is traditionally marketed as a couple’s day, it’s nothing beyond a day of love and cherishing.

Cook a meal

There’s nothing more rewarding and satisfying than cooking together a delectable meal and sharing it with someone you love. Celebrating all alone? Even better. You get to have your favorite meal all by yourself. If you need to feel a bit more pampered, plan a fancy spread and have it while lying under your cozy blanket with your favorite TV series on.

Write a card

Writing is probably one of the most genuine and authentic tools of expression. Firstly, because it cannot be erased. Secondly, you never write out of a sudden mood. It’s not a sudden outburst of feelings rather a product of a careful and permanent thought process. Whether it’s your parents, friends, childhood bestie, or your better behalf,  nothing is more bespoke and personal than a handwritten card which requires hardly a few minutes of your day.

2020 was a big lesson on minimalism and appreciating the simplicity of life. So, rather than building up high expectations around a fancy date, follow these etiquette for a memorable evening.
